Mark Diaz Truman and Marissa Kelly started Magpie Games in 2011 to bring new stories and experiences to the gaming industry that has brought so much joy to their lives. Since then, Magpie Games has grown into a dedicated team of like-minded individuals who work to produce unparalleled gaming experiences and nurture healthy and inclusive communities.
We are best known for creating games that give players a chance to immerse themselves in dynamic, intriguing worlds in a real and meaningful way. Whether we’re focused on unique art projects designed by auteur creators, like Bluebeard’s Bride and Cartel, or intellectual properties beloved by millions, such as Avatar Legends, we strive to make every project a special experience.
For over a decade we have been dedicated not just to making amazing games, but to making the TTRPG industry a more open and inclusive space. We helped found the Indie Game Developer Network (2011) to support small publishers and work regularly with the Game Manufacturer Association (GAMA) on diversity and inclusion efforts across the industry. We’re proud to say that we’ve helped make tabletop gaming a better space for everyone—our colleagues, our fans, and our employees.
Of course, none of this would be possible without our fans. Over the last ten years, Magpie Games has raised over $10 million from more than 100,000 backers through crowdfunding, including the most funded roleplaying game of all time—Avatar Legends: The Roleplaying Game. We are honored and thrilled to have the trust of so many in our endeavors, and we can’t wait to see what the next decade has to offer!
