New Root Quickstart for Free RPG Day!

We are thrilled to announce we are participating in Free RPG Day 2020 with a new quickstart for Root: The Roleplaying Game! The Pellenicky Glade Quickstart comes with all the game's core mechanics, pre-generated characters, and a new clearing filled with adventure. Get a chance to try out Root: The Roleplaying Game before it’s released!
Root: The Roleplaying Game is a fantasy adventure roleplaying game based on the hit board game: Root: A Game of Woodland Might and Right. In Root: The RPG, players take on the role of Vagabonds, woodland creatures battling for freedom, justice, and money from powers far greater than them, delivering the tales of the Woodland to your RPG table!
Based on Powered by the Apocalypse system used in games like Urban Shadows and Masks: A New Generation, Root: The RPG uses a core framework that offers a powerful, simple way to tell your stories of adventure in the Woodland. In the game, you might confront dangerous creatures of the forest, explore old ruins, travel from clearing to clearing, and even tip the balance of the war between the Marquis de Cat and the Eyrie Dynasty.
Root: The Roleplaying Game is Magpie Game’s most successful Kickstarter campaign to date, raising over $600,000 when we launched it last year. We expect to deliver the full game early in 2021, but, we are thrilled to share an early look with you at this year's upcoming Free RPG Day!
How to Get Your Copy
Free RPG Day happens every June in more than 500 stores across the world and offers consumers with FREE exclusive printed content for a broad spectrum of tabletop roleplaying games. Quickstart guides, new RPG adventures, and accessories, among others, are to be had at your local participating retailer. This year, Free RPG Day is scheduled for July 25th, 2020!
Want to get your vagabond paws on a copy of the quickstart? Of course, you do! Make sure you mark your calendar on July 25th and visit the official Free RPG Day website to find out which stores are hosting events near you!
If you’re not able to go to a store (or if no stores near you are participating in Free RPG Day), we will also have limited copies available FOR FREE through our webstore starting July 30th. You’ll have to cover the shipping costs, but we’re excited to get you a copy of the free quickstart if you can’t get it through a store! (We’ll also put up a PDF of the quickstart for free on DriveThruRPG that same day!)
